Erik Alan Reid
1966-2021
Erik Reid was born December 18, 1966 in Glendale, California to Gordon and Elaine Reid. Erik grew up riding bikes, playing soccer, skiing and exploring California and the Pacific Northwest. Many summers were spent camping, river trips down the Snake and Salmon Rivers, and picking berries (his first job). Erik attended Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon. In his junior year, he studied abroad in Frankfurt, Germany, and proudly played on the soccer team. Erik attended Colgate University in Hamilton, New York earning a degree in Political Science. At Colgate he was an active member of Beta Theta Pi and through which he found lifelong friends. Passionate about politics, Erik moved to Washington DC after college to work in the U.S. Department of Justice as the Special Assistant to the Attorney General, Janet Reno. After 10 years of public service, Erik moved to the Bay Area to begin his successful 22-year career at Intel Corp., achieving the role of Vice President of Sales and Marketing which included three years working in Beijing, China.
Erik loved photography, cycling, and cooking for family and friends. His passport was full of stamps from all corners of the globe. An avid sports fan, he followed almost any sport from the Tour de France to the Olympics, but was most passionate about Bay Area teams of his hometown roots, the 49ers and the Giants.
He is survived by his wife Jessica, his daughter Charlotte, his son Alexander, his parents Elaine and Gordon Reid, his sister Julia and her family, Brian, Owen and Stella. He will be dearly missed by his uncle Wayne Reid, and aunt and uncle Jan and Fred Betke and numerous cousins and close friends.
A private family celebration of his life is planned for July 2022.
